Speciality referral and visit: ??? (Probably $200 or so).
Antibiotics for 30 days: $314.
Having no money left for presents: PRICELESS!

On the bright side, I could have started that list with no money...

One acronym for you: HMO. Seriously, if you don't think there's going to be anything wrong with you where you need the absolute best of the best person out there to treat you then this is the way to go.

All of the stuff you had to do, including the speciality referral, would have probably totaled to $200.

I loves my Blue Advantage HMO, and plan to stay with them until I have a family that needs taking care of. When that happens I'm going to fork over the extra cash for the PPO.

Checking on BCBS's website, the kind of plan you're talking about would--if I got it myself--have saved me nothing. I would have more than made up my savings in increased monthly premiums.
