I got it through Guaranteed Rate, since I have friends who work there and had heard only good experiences. I had...an experience, but I got my home in the end, so. I'm not sure exactly why I didn't have to pay a fee, but I didn't. The process was not explained to me particularly well, which is part of the problem I had with my lender.
