They definitely learned from the Dark Souls model of mostly leaving things mysterious in the beginning. I've figured out that Hallownest fell because of the infection and random people seem to think I'm the one who can stop it, but I don't know what caused it. It's obviously still active and dangerous because I now have to run through the Infected Crossroads. Everyone's still in the "cryptic mumbling" stage of exposition.

Gameplay is fantastic (as evidenced by how I was determined to beat Hornet legit). I appreciate that a caster playthrough is possible. Just need to get better with the dive spell.

Also how did the LOZ concert go?
