Miss you. We're getting mixed messages about the status of Narita airport and whether or not Japan is letting in visitors right now, so hopefully the trip wont be affected.
Still, this whole thing is absolutely terrible. I have some friends that live in neighboring islands, and the tsunami effected them too. =/
Where are you hearing whether they're allowing visitors? I can't imagine Narita would be shut down for long, since it's by far the most important airport in the country.
Oh, due to Rachel's friend being here, we probably won't be in Tokyo right when you get in. We'll be there the afternoon of either the 8th or the 9th (I don't remember which).
That's what my dad said he heard on the news, that they were only letting people in on business, but every article I read says it's up and running and that the flights will be messed up for a few days. Gotta love the media having their wires crossed.
No worries. We wont be in until the 7th your time, and I imagine the first day will require some adjusting to the time change. <3 I'm so excited ^_____^
This kind of reminds me of when I went to Mexico to do some outreach work (my department sponsors trips to fit low-cost hearing aids at a state clinic just across the border) and we saw a man selling newspapers in the street. The headline had a verb in it that none of us recognized, so we looked it up--"to be riddled with bullets." It was a sobering moment to think that this was something describing daily life basically an hour's drive from our home.
Anyway--I'm glad you guys are ok. I have a college friend who did JET in Miyagi but has been back stateside for a few months. Unfortunately, he's still not heard from some of his former colleagues and friends. Scary times. :(
