Yet more home annoyances

Today was appliance delivery day, when we were going to get a full set of new appliances.

The refrigerator and the over could not be brought up because the downstairs neighbor across the stairway has a big set of utility shelves right at the top of the stairs and the installers said they wouldn't be able to get the fridge or the oven up. And when they looked at the front entrance, they said it was too narrow.

The dishwasher could not be installed because the valves on the pipe leading to it were stuck, so the installers could not be sure they would be able to turn off the water.

We got a new microwave, which was the appliance we least needed a new one of.

Hooray.

That really is annoying in the extreme. Will the neighbour across the way be okay being asked to temporarily remove his shelves? I'm surprised that there isn't a rule about access!

It's building policy that, given a week's notice, you need to remove items from the back stairs to allow people to move heavy objects. We alerted the building manager and put a note on his door and they just...did nothing.

What a headache. I’m so sorry. Is there any way to get the neighbor to move the shelves?

Is there anything that can be done about the dishwasher valves? Not having a dishwasher SUUUUCKS.

Since writing this post I'm willing to extend the neighbor a bit more slack because I think he's on vacation--the note we put up on his back door is still on his back door, so unless he never left his apartment to take out the garbage, he's not there.

(Or he's in the habit of leaving notes on his back door unread, which would be weird)

I've already talked to a plumber and gotten an estimate (expensive but not too expensive), but now the new headache is that the building manager is AWOL. I even called the management company and they tried to contact her and got nothing, and I need to talk to her to let know about the plumbing because it'll require a temporary water shutoff. So that's the new headache.
