dorchadas: (Dreams are older)
From: [personal profile] dorchadas
I'm a huge Conan fan (the original Howard stories, anyway), but before now I've never read any Red Sonja. I heard Gail Simone's run was really good, though, so I thought it would check it out.

--I have to admit, that beet juice drink at least LOOKS appealing. How does it taste?

It was weird--it was a bit like it was internally deconstructed. It started with the vodka, then the beet juice taste came out powerfully, and it finished with lime and ginger from the ginger beer. I thought it was great, nearly everyone else who tried it didn't like it.

Sadly, I didn't get a cannibal smile from the beet juice after I drank it.

--He's pricey, and he's only open certain hours on certain days, but he can totally afford to do this as his sushi is the best in the area.

There's a lot of Japanese restaurants that work like that too, so I see he's following in a grand tradition! Emoji Sad pikachu flag

--Honestly....I kind of agree with Lieder's sentiment on the New Testament.

I'm pretty sure I laughed the loudest of anyone in the room at that joke. ✡️

--I wish Spike had given Faye a chance in the series.

We're only 11 episodes in and [twitter.com profile] lisekatevans has already realized that Spike is the least interesting character in the show. And yeah, if only he had been willing to give the future a chance instead of being stuck in the past...

--Your friends are quite some characters. I enjoyed their commentary.

There were so many quotable lines through the weekend! And I can only imagine what they said while I was off doing other things.

--Love that Black Mage.

I wish I knew how he changed the expression. I don't think it could have been linked to his real expression...but maybe? It seemed to change in real time. Emoji eye bugging out

--It's odd to me that they would assume you are uptight just because of your religion. If anything, being religious hasn't stopped a lot of people from debauchery, and there are atheist people out there who can be just as uptight as religious ones.

That's mostly me speculating, because I really have no idea how they developed that impression! It wasn't until [livejournal.com profile] smtemp told me about it that I thought back to all the times everyone apologized for being silly, or told me I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to, or checked in with how I was feeling, that I realized they thought I was sitting there constantly judging them.

--Great group photo! For your friend in the kilt: did he go commando underneath? LMAO.

One the rest of us (I forget who) asked him that, and he refused to answer. So I suspect he did. Emoji Shhhh
