Speciality referral and visit: ??? (Probably $200 or so).
Antibiotics for 30 days: $314.
Having no money left for presents: PRICELESS!

On the bright side, I could have started that list with no money...

Several of the prices on that list are post-insurance. The first doctor's visit, for example, would have been $130 otherwise.

Also:

Insurance assholes: "List medical conditions in the past blah blah."
Me: "Well, I had a kidney stone in 2002, but nothing since then."
Insurance assholes: "We'll take you, but we won't cover anything related to your kidneys until 2007."
Me: "...fuckers."
Insurance assholes: "What?"
Me: "Nothing."

My plan doesn't have a co-pay. It would have cost me another few hundred a year to get one. I figured 100% coverage of all expenses above $1500 was better than a copay and %80 coverage of same, since I primarily bought the insurance for disaster purposes.

see, i by insurance because my immune system blows. and 300 bucks for antibiotics (or 180 in my case) blows more.

but then i'm not really paying all that much for relatively decent insurance. now that i have it.

insurance companies are not our friends.

No insurance through your employer? I don't remember my work-provided insurance ever denying stuff for a pre-existing condition.
