A neighbor (I think) just stopped by and dropped off a bag of vegetables. I think she said they were locally grown, too--either that or she lives here. She was using really simple Japanese and I still couldn't quite understand her Still, it's really nice of her. [personal profile] schoolpsychnerd just got home and said she lives nearby, so we're going to try to make cookies or something and bring them over to her.

This is the second time something like this has happened. The first time was in Hiroshima. It was raining like crazy (we forgot that you always bring your umbrella when you go out in Japan...) and we were standing miserable on a street corner when someone gave us an umbrella. A new one, too--made of clear plastic like all the Japanese people were using. We're hoping to repay them back somehow. We mostly remember where they were. I'm just not sure how to do it...

Also, our phones come in today. We got iPhones because they're not too expensive and because we can take them back to America when we're done (assuming we still want them)--Japanese cell phones have a huge amount of amazing feature that are almost totally useless to us since we live out in the country. It'll be nice to actually be able to call people...also, incoming calls are free in Japan, including international ones, if anyone wants to call us. :-p
