I wanted to say all of the above than I defaulted to power.. because to me that van lead to everyone else seeming like specks of expendable dust

I can't really pick an option since I feel like the only thing that can change the nature of a man (or woman or anyone else) is the desire to change.

Well, any of those can. But the closer you get to the core of a person, the harder it becomes to change.

Some people are very secure in themselves and don't change much even when knocked around quite a bit. But if you hit a load-bearing column, their whole life can collapse. In that regard, things like betrayal are particularly prone to cause major changes.

Conversely, some things naturally tend to change as a person ages -- the learning child becomes the working adult becomes the advising elder.
