So, you might have seen a tweet going around with a bunch of art of the Avengers from Avengers: Endgame done in traditional ukiyo-e art style. And if you haven't, here it is:

Has anyone ever made a movie in ukiyo-e style? I'm not sure how it would look in motion, but I'd want to see it.

Well, I took the liberty of translating all the Japanese titles of the various characters, so here they are:
- Thanos: 六道將軍佐能須 rokudō shōgun sanōsu, "Thanos, General of the Universe" (literally the “six worlds”--the realms of humans, animals, asuras, devas, pretas, and of hell). 佐能須 is a phonetic rendering of his name.
- Iron Man: 鉄武者八十五號 tetsumusha hachijūgō, "Iron Warrior Number 85." 號 is a more archaic version of the modern 号 gō, used in worlds like 信号 (shingō, "traffic signal") or 電話番号 (denwa bangō, "telephone number")
- Captain America: 米国団長 beikokudanchō, "Leader of the America Group"
- Hulk: 豪傑張躯丸 kōketsuchōkumaru, "Heroic Mighty-Bodied One." 躯 is a more archaic version of the modern 体 karada, meaning "body."
- Thor: 雷神徹 raijintetsu, "Striking Thunder God"
- Black Widow: 後家忍黒蜘蛛 gokenin kokugumo, "Hidden Widow Black Spider."
- Hawkeye: 流浪人鷹眼 rurōnin yōme, "Wandering Hawk Eye"
- Captain Marvel: 驚異隊長 kyōi gunchō, "Marvelous Commanding Officer"
- War Machine: 六式戰機 rokushiki senki, "Sixth War Machine." 戰 is a more archaic version of the modern 戦 ikusa, meaning "war, battle."
- Antman: 蟻義賊 gigizoku, "Ant Thief-Knight." 義賊 kizoku is literally "chivalrous thief," like a specific word for Robin Hood types
- Rocket Raccoon: 大筒狸 ōzutsurai, "Cannon raccoon dog." 狸 tanuki is the word for a, well, tanuki. The word for an American raccoon is 洗い熊 araigumi, literally "washing bear"
Has anyone ever made a movie in ukiyo-e style? I'm not sure how it would look in motion, but I'd want to see it.
