I picked "don't care", but it would be more accurate to say, "depends on the game". For some games I would definitely want to use them. D&D (any version), Star Wars, Cyberpunk 2020, Mekton, Shadowrun, Traveller, Star Frontiers, Rifts, or the GURPS Action game I was running for awhile; those are all the type of games I would want to use miniatures for--assuming I could find suitable ones.
For Hellcats & Hockeysticks, on the other hand, or the Glee hack of Smallville, miniatures are less important.
That is a good point--that it depends on the focus that combat has in the game. Even though combat has the option to be pretty crunchy in the Delta Green game I'm running, we never use miniatures for it because combat is a sign that F Cell has really, really screwed up.
When I run my hexgame, whether with this system or with ORE, I probably will use minis for that. Well, cutouts or dice. I'm not buying any minis. (^_^;)
